here, the TV in the gym is not turned to a news station as it is in a gym for all ages, but to daytime game shows in the morning. I have no idea what is watched in the afternoon, but I would imagine that it is one of those reality shows or a soap opera.
I am not saying that we, as seniors, should not watch such TV; I am saying that we should be careful about how many hours we spend watching.
In case you do not remember what the 7 Deadly (Mortal, Venal) Sins are, I have listed them below with their definitions.
Sloth
apathy, listlessness, lethargy, idleness
Envy
jealously, bitterness, desire, covetousness
Greed
gluttony, voracity, self-indulgence
Gluttony
greed, excess, voraciousness
Pride
arrogance, conceit, smugness
Wrath
anger, rage, fury
Lust
desire, covetousness, longing, envy
Below, I have listed some of the Daytime TV shows that can contribute to these mortal sins.
Greed –games show, food shows, weight loss advertisements
Gluttony –cooking shows, game shows, Fast Food
advertisements
Pride – anything about actors and celebrities, advertisements to enhance body parts
Wrath – soap operas, news (local and national), game shows (if your candidate does not win), the showing of reruns of old TV shows over and
over and over, the weather channel
Lust – Soap Operas, entertainment shows about movie stars, weight loss advertisements, enhancement advertisements for the body or hair growth
Envy – talk shows about actors and celebrities, weight loss advertisements, possible “talk” shows with hosts with talents that you have
Sloth – Watching continuous Daytime TV is a big contributor to sloth – you only move to visit the bathroom or get something to eat (see Gluttony).
Now, this is one senior’s opinion, but I thought I should warn you about this so you could protect yourself – continuous watching of Daytime TV might endanger your soul.
Written tongue in cheek.
