Yesterday, I thought Fall had arrived. It was cool two mornings in a row and temps stayed away from the high 80's and 90's. This morning was cool, but we are going up again to a high in the mid 80's with so much humidity. When I walked Riley this morning I was almost dripping wet when I got back. I do not walk fast, so it was not from exertion.

I just heard the weather, and it is going up to 83 today, but will cool down this afternoon. then maybe we will have a respite from our humid heat. This is the way it goes until after Christmas. We might have a 70 degree Christmas or lower even. BUT we might have a 90 degree Christmas. We will have to wait and see.

February before last, I had no heat and of course, it was cold. I even called the State of Florida, Elder Affairs Department and they showed up. The office had given me a space heater, which I had to move from room to room with my one hand. since I walk with a cane.. They were not impressed. I am sure the apartment was written up and unfortunately, my "friendship" with the manager, ET AL ended. But it was fixed in two days after they were here.

This year, my air and heat work. I just do not want to turn the heat on just yet and since I face the East I get morning sun to warm my apartment in the morning. But I will have to do it, soon, I think. It is not a cost issue - I am running the air conditioner now. I guess I just do not want Summer to end. I never have liked Winter.

So stay warm or cool wherever you live. I will, too.

Feeling Better

I have finally come out of the fog that started a few weeks ago when I fell backwards and hit my head.  I got up and thought I was OK. But these last weeks, I have felt groggy a bit. I just put it to old age. But I now think it was that fall.

I still have a "fullness" in my head, but I am so much better today. I am actually remembering things without trying to find that "thought" I just had a moment ago.

I am also more positive this morning - glad that is back. I am looking forward to the holidays and just doing "stuff" again. I plan on going out more - I am not ready to live my total life in this apartment complex. Who knows- maybe I will get "sane" enough to take a driving trip somewhere.

I walked Riley for a long walk this morning and "walked' instead of "shuffling." In fact I walked fairly fast.  The weather is cooler and more invigorating. For those of you in the winter climes, it was low 60's-  a real cool spell here in Florida.

I realize the "fullness" I feel in my head will not be going anywhere soon, but I am going to plug along until it does. I also have developed my allergy cough which is irritating. I will go get some allergy "cough" med. Yes, there is one.

Anyway, Just wanted to let my followers know I am OK, and soon hope to be great.

A Slow Day

Today is the day for aches - yuk. Teeth are hurting getting crowns next week, knees are hurting, pills have not kicked in, head is hurting, same as for legs. I never thought getting old would have this much pain. Maybe I should not have danced so hard and so long - but I loved it. Maybe I should not have bought a fixer-upper all those years ago, but it was fun. And maybe if I had not fallen and hit my head so much, it would not hurt. But I have never been one to sit back and watch others do things, if i think I can do them.

I climbed up on the roof of my old house (had a floored attic with windows) and patched the leaking chimney, and re-tarred and rolled out roofing for the front porch. Perhaps, I should not have done that. But it needed it and I could not afford to have it done. This is an example of what I am talking about.

I took after my father, who could do anything and did if he had instructions. He put down a concrete driveway (borrowed my grandfather's plow to dig it out). He built a carport for our two cars. At another house, he built 4 brick flowerbeds on a hill going down in our backyard, making the last one a patio instead. He then built a brick fire pit.

He could fix anything and did; and I have tried to follow in his footsteps. But I am old and "wounded" too much to do too much, but I guess I will keep trying -it makes life more interesting.

A Pause for Thought

I have been driving my neighbors here at he apartment complex for a while. I might have to stop driving those with walking or wheeling apparatus. I lift these into my car and get them out.

When I drove someone several months back, she had a wheelchair that I loaded and unloaded 4 times over a few days. A short while after, I had chest pains - so much so I went to see a cardiologist. I had tests and there was a small blockage in one artery. This old German doctor (of the old school) told me (a woman) that we would wait and see. My question - wait and see what???? If I died - no preventive meds?

Well, as it happened I am getting short of breath when I walk the dog, etc. and yesterday I lifted a friend's walker to place in my car and then took it out when we got home. Today, walking my dog, I had a slight pain in the general upper left side of my chest.

Is this angina or indicative of a possible heart attack? I wish I could ask someone knowledgeable (not from the old school where the doctor pats the woman's hand and ignores it.)

I am due to see the cardiologist again, I believe. My insurance, I think, has approved it. I wonder if I can change to a different one. I need to look this up.

My medical history is one of high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke - not heart attack. However, my paternal grandmother had a heat attack when she was younger, and I believe my maternal grandfather had one, too. These did not kill them.

Now that I am 72 - older than they were when they died - I need to do some research and a lot of prevention. I have a dog to raise and I am not ready to go just yet.

Still Incommunicado

I am still "without" my devices. I feel like I am living in a hole. I am going to the public library today, since I have read the fours books I had gotten last week.

I plugged the cable cord straight into the wall so I have basic TV - which is very much like not having anything. I have Comet and Charge to watch "old" shows, but they both are having sound problems - loud and no sound. Not much fun.  One more day and I hope I will be back to normal.
