Still without a   Laptop

My internet and phone are not working - the back of my TV is a knotted mess of cables - way more than the things I have hooked up. Somehow phone and internet got disconnected - modem is not connected.

I figured I could just put the cable for the TV into the wall, so I at least have TV. Cox cannot come until Thursday, unless someone else cancels. I have to use the apartment computers on the 4th floor to check e-mail and internet.

I was not happy about this, but our manager is out of the office, and the person sitting in the office is a maintenance employee. We have Wi-Fi in several open spaces on my floor, but the person in the office will not give me the apartment's password so I can use my laptop in the common areas on my floor.

I am not a happy camper.

Head over my Heels Again

Just a note to let my friends know that I have done it again – yes, fallen on my head. Eventually, I guess I will knock my brains completely out.

My car would not start. I asked a neighbor if he could give me a jump; I figured it was my battery As it always happens in my apartment complex, several male neighbors arrived to help. After trying 3 different sets of battery chargers, it was determined that it must not be the battery. I called the towing company that my car garage uses, and they arrived quickly.

Now for the ‘uh-oh’ part- I planned on going with him to the car garage, and I fell out of the door area after trying to climb up to the seat. I fell back for the umpteenth time in my life and hit my head. The driver was shocked, picked me up, and walked me back to my apartment. I called the car garage and explained that I would not be coming. I thought I needed to be there to arrange for payment of the repair bill. The manager told me not to worry about that and get better, and he would add the towing to my repair bill.

A neighbor came down for a while to make sure I did not pass out or need help. I took extra pain meds and went to bed early. I feel fine today, except I am still a little dizzy. My short term memory is a little off, too.  I am taking everything slow to keep from falling again.

I have been falling for over 50 years as an adult. I have always said it was good my mother gave me all those dance lessons, or I would be dead now.

eBay

I have had my first and last experience with eBay. I bought a battery for my laptop from them and It took 2 weeks for it to get here. Unfortunately, It did not fit.

I went through Hell to get it back to the person who sold it - he lives in China and evidently does not trust anyone in the US. I have been going back and forth with his emailing his questions and requirements and I finally mailed it to him- Air Mail, obviously, to the tune of $23.50. It cost $30 plus $5 shipping to come to me.

He said he would pay me through PayPal. However, the questions keep coming and I finally sent him a long email telling him I had sent it and I was an older woman and would never, ever use eBay again.

The deadline to return it was Sept. 13th and I sent it out Sept. 12th. I have not found anything in PayPal. I am now $78.50 out of pocket. I will update this if anything happens. As I said before - I will never buy anything from eBay again.

Remembering...

Since it is getting harder for me to clean the house - muscle damage and old age - I am taking one room at a time in my apartment.

My plan is to straighten, clean off, and dust everything, going room to room. Then I will have a neighbor, who cleans apartments, to mop the bathroom, living room, and kitchen. (These rooms have either tile or laminate.)

I have done the kitchen, the bath, and the living room. Unfortunately, I have placed anything that does not belong in these rooms in the bedroom. It will have to be picked up in a major way, now.

Today I start that bedroom. I hope my old body can do it all in one day. I am going to try. It has some extra furniture in it now that I moved from the living room. I think I have found a way to make it look ok, instead of just lining it around the walls.

I wonder if I can use an old trick a neighbor did long ago in her apartment. She put a colorful sheet across one corner that coordinated with the room. She hid all kinds of things behind that sheet, and no one knew it.

Well, I guess I had better get started. I move a lot more slowly now that my knee is acting up, too.
